About Hospital
- Jaslok Hospital Mumbai was established on 6th July 1973 by philanthropist Seth Lokoomal Chanrai and surgeon Shantilal Jamnadas Mehta.
- The facility has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) and ISO Certifications.
- Jaslok Hospital Mumbai achieved several milestones, including;
- 1973: Launched as the first private urology department in India and performed the first renal transplant.
- 1974: Introduced an Artificial Kidney Department (AKD), a pioneering effort in the private sector for kidney treatments.
- Late 1970s: Established the endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism unit and was the first to set up Radioimmunoassay (RIA) in the country.
- 1977: Became the first in Mumbai to introduce 2D Echocardiography and performed various pioneering cardiac procedures.
- 1984: Established the Imaging and Interventional Radiology department, known for its diagnostic and interventional radiology services.
- 1988: Initiated a comprehensive Functional Neurosurgical program, providing specialised care for various neurological conditions.
- 1990: Launched the Department of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, treating over 6000 couples and resulting in the birth of over 20,000 babies.
- 1995: Introduced the first Headache Clinic in the country to cater to chronic headache patients.
- 1997: Performed the first bladder pacemaker implantation in India.
- 1998: Achieved several milestones, including the first successful living-related liver transplant in India and Western India.
- 1999: Began offering Neuropsychiatry services, a pioneering effort in combining neurology and psychiatry.
- 2000: Became the first to perform a successful bone marrow transplant in India and set up a specialised Bone Marrow Transplant department.
- 2003: Performed the first endovenous Laser treatment for Varicose Veins in the country.
- 2005: Achieved several firsts, including the world’s first Cumulus Aided Transfer (CAT) IVF procedure and introduced advanced imaging technologies.
- 2010: Pioneered the first Intracranial Aneurysm Coil procedure in India and incorporated MRGFUS technology.
- 2018: Launched a new ICU, a Heart Failure Clinic, and was recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Wilson’s Disease.
- 2020: Restarted renal transplants post-COVID-19 pandemic and administered over 5 lakh vaccines during the pandemic.
- 2021: Introduced TrueBeam Linear Accelerator for advanced radiation therapy and continued excellence in critical care services.
- 2022: Built the Jaslok Annexe, a new facility with advanced healthcare services, and expanded the Renal Sciences Department.
- 2023: Introduced several new services, including a state-of-the-art Mammography Department, the first Restorative and Regenerative Medicine department, and a Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery fellowship.
- It is one of India’s largest research centres, conducting various clinical trials and research projects in collaboration with institutions both in India and abroad.
- It plays a significant role in serving the less fortunate sections of society, with 20% of its beds allocated to disadvantaged and weaker sections of the community.
